Join Bloomington Parks' Staff and Sustainability Commission Members in pulling garlic mustard along Nine Mile Creek.
Garlic mustard is a non-native, invasive plant. Because of its aggressive nature and prolific seeding, it alters ecosystems and chokes out beneficial native plants and flowers that pollinators and other wildlife depend on. Garlic mustard often moves in after buckthorn is removed.
Volunteers will be pulling garlic mustard (small plant) in an area that was cleared of buckthorn last year. No experience is necessary, instructions and equipment will be provided. Please bring your own work gloves and water bottle.
We’ll meet at 10:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Harrison Park, 1701 W 100th Street. The garlic mustard pull will take place 1/4 mile south of the Harrison Park parking lot along a paved trail. If you would like a bit more information about about Garlic Mustard and it's impact on our environment, join Sustainability Commission members at 9:30 a.m. for a brief information session.
